Grand Pas Classique

One variation I would like to do in the future is Grand Pas Classique, a classical repertoire, choreographed by Viktor Gsovsky. He created this pas de deux to music composed by a French composer from the nineteenth century, Daniel Auber. Many people have said that this was one of the most difficult variations by all the many sections of this variation, and that’s one reason why it stood out to me. I want to try this variation and have it be a challenge for me. Also, the style of the variation and the character is something else that I like. There are elements like the diagonal section that need great control and strength in the supporting leg, because of the ballones and its repeadity. Another part that is pretty difficult is the second section, which has some turns and also needs control to hold each position. And why not do it now? Well, most skills required for this variation are very advanced and need a lot of training to do, which would take time. Some corrections I think my teacher would give me include soften my arms during the whole variation, turnout (which is important for everything, but this variation would need perfect turnout), hold my back, stay on my supporting leg for every turn, don’t crash down (on most things), be on the box of my pointe shoes (for many moves), control myself throughout, and many more! Those are some things I already get during class and even in other variations, so I can definitely see myself getting those corrections, though I will be working on them for sure.
