Lucy Qian
Hi! I’m Lucy, a hardworking student from River Hill High School in Clarksville, Maryland, and a dedicated dancer learning from the Akhmedova Ballet Academy. Passionate about topics regarding dance, nutrition, mental and physical health, writing and editing, and social impacts, I would love to focus on health science in relation to dance in the near future. This may include enhancing dancers’ performances, reducing their injuries, or working on their physical and mental health. Since the tender age of three, dance has helped guide me through all of my experiences and hardships. And, once becoming a pre-professional training student educated in mainly classical ballet and contemporary dance, I have learned the importance of time commitment, management, flexibility, and perseverance. Practicing six to seven times a week for three to four hours each day, I have become a strong supporter and advocate for this art form and language. I enjoy opportunities to work on my own variations and ensemble pieces with my friends, as well as assisting younger dancers in their journey with dance. My love for dance is often encouraged by my family, friends, and teachers, along with peers on different social media platforms from all over the world, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without all of them.
